Start of the T-B cell lab

I’m a happy to announce that I have been appointed as principal investigator at the Center for Translational Immunology, (CTI) Utrecht, the Netherlands. Our lab will focus on the intimate interactions between T and B cells in lymphoid structures, in health and disease.

Lymph nodes are essential components of the adaptive immune system but have mostly been studied in murine models. The human lymph node is still a black box, due to its complex and dynamic nature, but translation is needed for clinical relevance and the CTI provides the unique environment to investigate this further. At the Center for Translational Immunology (CTI), I aim to to setup an experimental immunology program focused on T:B cell interactions within human lymph nodes and in vitro experimental LN models

My vision is to understand the intimate interaction between T and B cells in lymphoid structures and the role of this interaction in disease and effective immunity. While lymphoid structures play an important role in the generation of autoimmunity, anti-cancer response, and efficacy of checkpoint inhibitors, little is known about these structures and the interactions that take place within.
