I’m delighted to share that our proposal for a new EFIS-IL Study Group has been officially accepted! This initiative brings together researchers across Europe to accelerate discoveries in lymphoid structures as orchestrators of immunity.
Lymphoid structures—ranging from classical lymph nodes to tertiary lymphoid structures—serve as the command centers of immune coordination. They shape responses in vaccination, infection, cancer, autoimmunity, aging, and transplantation. With rapid advances in imaging, 3D culture systems, and organoid models, the field is evolving quickly and reshaping long-held concepts of immune organization.
Our Study Group aims to build a collaborative European network to:
- Connect experts working on lymphoid structure biology, modeling, and translation
- Promote interdisciplinary exchange between immunology, stromal biology, and tissue organization
- Support young scientists through seminars, workshops, and mentorship
- Spark new collaborations and lay the groundwork for large EU-funded consortia
We’ll host monthly online meetings featuring talks, panel discussions, and method-focused sessions, and an annual in-person meeting linked to ECI or an EFIS-affiliated conference.
A big thank-you to all collaborators across Europe who helped turn this idea into reality. We’re excited to launch this platform and work together to advance our understanding of lymphoid structures as orchestrators of immunity—from basic mechanisms to translational opportunities.
More updates soon as we get started!
